The ESRC Vulnerability & Policing Futures Research Centre is delighted to announce Professor Kate Brown (University of York) as the Centre’s new Co-Director.
5 November 2024
Professor Brown takes over the role from Professor Charlie Lloyd (University of York) who will assume the role of Deputy Director of the Centre.
Professor Brown was previously Deputy Director of the Centre, and led on a number of Centre portfolios, including its equality, diversity and inclusion strategy and its lived experience strategy. Professor Brown also worked as a co-investigator on several Centre research projects, including “County lines policing and vulnerability” and the “Q methods study of vulnerability”.
Professor Charlie Lloyd said: “A key part of the Centre’s plan was always to ensure that there was an upcoming generation of researchers who could lead the Centre in the years to come. Kate is an exceptional researcher and leader who has already contributed so much to the Centre and the field more broadly. We’re all thrilled that she has agreed to take on the role of Centre Co-Director.”
Professor Kate Brown said: “I’m delighted to be the new Co-Director of the Vulnerability & Policing Futures Research Centre. The Centre aims to improve outcomes for vulnerable people through its research on policing and public services. We know that this is a hugely challenging task but the emerging findings from our research projects highlight just how important this is as we work with other organisations to reduce harm. I’m excited to build on the work that the Centre has done and take forward the work that Charlie has done in his time as Co-Director.”
