Stephen Holland is a Professor in the Departments of Philosophy and Health Sciences, University of York.

Stephen’s main research interests are in ethics, including moral and political philosophy, bioethics, and public health ethics. He is the author of ‘Bioethics: A Philosophical Introduction and Public Health Ethics’, both published by Polity; and ‘Ethics and Governance of Public Health Information’, published by Rowman & Littlefield.

Stephen chairs the University of York’s Health Sciences’ Research Governance Committee and previously chaired the University’s Ethics Committee and Public Health England’s Research Ethics and Governance Group.

Stephen co-chairs the Vulnerability & Policing Futures Research Centre’s Ethical Oversight Panel (EOP), along with Professor Iyiola Solanke. The remit of the EOP is to provide a constructively critical perspective on the Centre’s activities. This involves ensuring that the Centre stays true to its objectives and values, including meeting its stated aims of improving equality, diversity and inclusivity.
