Toby Davies is an Associate Professor of Criminal Justice Data Analytics in the School of Law at the University of Leeds.
Toby’s background is in mathematics, and his research is concerned with the quantitative analysis of crime. His particular interests include the modelling of crime patterns in space and time, the influence of urban structure (such as street networks) on the distribution of crime, and network analysis. His work has an explicit applied focus, and he has collaborated with a number of police forces and government agencies.
Toby is a co-investigator on a project examining patterns of concentration of crime, which is affiliated with the Centre and funded by UKRI. This project aims to identify appropriate spatio-temporal scales for interventions to address high-harm and high-impact crime types. In addition to this, he supervises researchers as part of the Connected Data Analytics programme.
