Leah G. Pope is a Research Scientist at the New York State Psychiatric Institute and an Assistant Professor of Behavioral Medicine in the Division of Behavioral Health Services and Policy Research at the Columbia University Department of Psychiatry.
Leah trained as an anthropologist and mental health services researcher. She has extensive experience conducting mixed methods research in the fields of public mental health and criminal justice.
Leah’s research has been funded by the National Institute of Mental Health, the National Science Foundation, and private foundations including the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, the van Ameringen Foundation, the Wenner Gren Foundation and the Sozosei Foundation.
Leah is currently the principal investigator on an implementation study of the 988 crisis line in New York State and a co-investigator on several additional studies, including an upcoming randomized controlled trial of Crisis Intervention Team training for police officers in the United States.
